Gettin' On

Chorus
I'll be taking my time when it comes to getting on.
I'm doing just fine with this little trinket in my hand.
I'm buying a round on that day you've finally found.
I like you better from the other side of town.
Verse
Why spend this life filling pockets for the hypocrites?
I feel more gray most everyday so I don't look.
I can't believe all the grief a gal can keep up in her sleeve.
It keeps me wanting back most everything she took.
I feel the craze, feed the phrase and keep this ship afloat.
The Captain said, boys first we conquer then we burn.
I fill my book with dirty looks from all the crooks who's shit I took
You'd best be watching out for me when it's my turn.
Verse
I won't have it any other way, It's time to live a bit.
It's so much better when there's something in between.
I let go everything I know, It keeps me blowing down the road
Leaves me ending up just where I'm meant to be
I don't hide inside this pride, I just live with it.
I don't give a damn, It's who I am and I make a scene
I swear there ain't no time to cry, I'll have them burn me when I die
You'll see their faces when my ashes all turn green.
